The Yoran institute supports research that contributes to fundamental understanding of gene regulation, genome function, human genetic variation, population genomics and evolutionary genomics. In particular focusing on how these are related to the etiology of various human diseases such as cancer, neuro-degeneration, aging, cardiovascular disease, autoimmunity and other complex genetic conditions. Further explored is individual susceptibility to pathogens, as well as individual pharmacogenomics. This information is important for identifying and developing new targets and strategies to diagnose or treat diseases, and for predicting which drug and dose would be most effective for a specific individual patient.
